FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What's the difference between the Cohort and Master Classes?
The RE Producing Cohort is a 6-week collaborative community limited to 20 participants. It’s discussion-based learning with guest speakers, real budgets, and deep peer connections. You’re learning WITH 19 other emerging producers.
Master Classes are 2-hour standalone sessions (max 35 people) focused on specific producing skills. You can take one class or all of them. They’re more instructional and don’t require the 6-week commitment.
Think of it this way: Cohort = community + curriculum. Master Classes = skill-building workshops.
Do I need producing experience to join the Cohort or Master Classes?
No. These programs are designed for emerging producers — whether you’ve co-produced one show or you’re just starting to explore the field.
The Cohort works best if you’re serious about pursuing producing and want to build real relationships with peers. Master Classes work for anyone curious about the business side of theatre.
The Cohort is open to emerging producers 18+.
What if I can't make a live session?
That said, the real value is in the live discussion — especially for the Cohort, where peer learning is central. If you know you’ll miss more than 2 sessions, it might be worth waiting for the next cohort.
How do I apply to the RE Producing Cohort?
We’re looking for emerging producers who are serious about learning, contributing to discussions, and building relationships with peers.
How do I know which service is right for me?
Here’s a quick guide:
- Want to build relationships with other emerging producers and go deep on producing fundamentals over 6 weeks? → RE Producing Cohort
- Want skill-building workshops on specific topics without a long-term commitment? → Monthly Master Classes
- Want free industry insights and to stay connected to the community? → The Producer’s Desk Newsletter (it’s free!)
- Want personalized 1:1 guidance on your specific projects or career? → Consulting & 1:1 Coaching
- Have a script and need comprehensive feedback with a development plan? → Script Analysis & Development ($500)
- Need strategic advising or executive producing support on a production? → Executive Producing Services
- Still unsure? Subscribe to The Producer’s Desk (free) and see if the content resonates. Or book a 1:1 consulting call and we can talk through your goals.
What's included in a Consulting & 1:1 Coaching session?
Each session is 1-hour via Zoom and is tailored to what you need. We can cover producing & project evaluation, budget review, fundraising strategy, branding & marketing, casting & creative development, career planning, portfolio building, college applications, or breaking into theatre.
Sessions can be booked individually or in multi-session packages.
Pricing: $200/hour for theatre professionals, $100/hour for students & new professionals.
What's the difference between Script Analysis and a Consulting session?
Script Analysis is specifically for people who have a script and want comprehensive feedback on it. You send us your script, our team of experienced readers and dramaturgs analyzes it and prepares detailed notes, then you have two 1-hour sessions with Hunter to discuss the feedback, next steps, and development strategy. It’s $500 flat rate.
Consulting sessions are hourly ($200 or $100) and can cover any topic related to your theatre career or projects — not just script feedback.
If you just want quick feedback on a script, book a consulting session. If you want deep analysis with a development plan and two follow-up sessions, Script Analysis is the way to go.
What's the difference between the three Executive Producing tiers?
All three tiers provide guidance on fundraising, budgets, creative teams, marketing strategy, investor relations, and production oversight. The difference is the level of involvement and fee structure:
Strategic Advising (Monthly Retainer): Ongoing strategic guidance without day-to-day involvement. Best for lead producers who want expert counsel.
Consulting Executive Producer (Project-Based): Active involvement in key creative and financial decisions. Best for productions needing experienced EP leadership.
Full Executive Producer (Development Through Closing): Complete oversight from earliest stages through closing. Best for productions needing comprehensive EP leadership.
Book an exploratory call to discuss your project and determine which tier is right for you.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes.
For the Cohort, we can discuss payment plans on a case-by-case basis. If you’re accepted and need to split payments, just let us know in your application or reply to your acceptance email.
For Consulting Sessions, we offer multi-session packages at a discounted rate.
For Executive Producing Services, payment structures are negotiated based on the scope of the project.
Script Analysis is a flat $500 fee, payable upfront.
Can I attend the Master Classes if I'm not in the Cohort?
Absolutely! Master Classes are standalone sessions. You don’t need to be in the Cohort to attend them.
You can register for individual classes ($95 each) or access the on-demand library ($75 per recorded class). The Cohort and Master Classes are completely separate offerings.
What's the time commitment for each service?
Here’s the breakdown:
- RE Producing Cohort: 6 weeks, Mondays 5-7pm ET (12 hours total + private community time + weekly assignments)
- Monthly Master Classes: 2 hours per class, 2nd & 4th Saturdays at 10am-12pm ET
- The Producer’s Desk Newsletter: 5-10 minutes to read each Wednesday
- Consulting & 1:1 Coaching: 1 hour per session (you choose how many sessions)
- Script Analysis: Two 1-hour sessions with Hunter (plus time for our team to read and analyze your script)
- Executive Producing Services: Varies by project scope and tier
